What up, everyone? You all having a good December? If not, we’re nearly at the end and 2021 is just around the corner. Anyways, I have brought the usual K-pop weekly review to you all despite “big” releases slowing down for the year, I managed to nab a sizeable amount of songs to review.
Disclaimer, I may be cutting back songs that I may review in this roundups because I have a new blog centered around Japanese pop/culture and I’m doing weekly reviews on there as well. If I review every single song that came out in both K-pop and J-pop, my head would explode. Please, check out my J-pop blog if you’re interested in that stuff.
Now, finally, on to the reviews!
Kim Sung Kyu(김성규) – I’m Cold
S’alright.
백예린 (Yerin Baek) – Hate you
Yerin Baek is certainly a different breed of idol, honestly. Apparently all of the songs on her new album is in English – so she fluent then or what? Well, regardless, I like the song. It’s actually pretty much right up my alley in terms of chiller pop songs. It’s better than last week’s release that’s for sure.

Ohhh, snuck this in in time for my review, I see. I don’t like this song as much as the previous one though. It falls back into her songs that people for sure will be “snore!” Oh well.
XIUMIN 시우민 – 이유 (You)
Xiumin is finally back. I mean, I feel like these type of songs/set-up is more appreciated by stans of the idol featured, so all I will say is…I like his sweater – looks comfortable.
TAEYEON 태연 – What Do I Call You
On the other hand, Taeyeon’s song is also rather good. I found myself grooving to it which is way more than I can say for most of the songs I cover here.
SUPER JUNIOR – ‘Burn The Floor’
This kinda reminded me of a musical at the start – I mean. when the song actually starts (which is about a minute in). Well, it’s certainly different. I think it’s actually okay.
NCT U 엔시티 유 ‘Make A Wish (Birthday Song) (Wuki Remix)’
God, NCT. I swear, they suffer more misses than hits with me because I don’t think I have the galaxy brain to appreciate the sound presented to me by neo culture technology. I only put this in because I didn’t get a chance to review the original song which didn’t really appeal to me either.
이하이 (LeeHi) – For You (Feat. Crush)
There’s no separate Christmas song section this week since there wasn’t as much and OSTs are back. Anyway, this song s’alright. More on the boring side as Christmas songs go for me personally.
Leellamarz (릴러말즈) & GooseBumps (구스범스) – WHY YOU MAD + TOP DAWG
I knew I wasn’t going to like it but I still put it in here for a chance, I guess? One of the guys in the elevator is wearing a Pornhub shirt in the first half though…is that even accessible in South Korea? And yes, this is technically two songs.
Actually, the first song wasn’t that bad. The second song is kinda meh though.
Jackson Wang & 林俊傑 JJ Lin – 過 Should’ve Let Go
Was expecting heavy rapping but that was subverted. This song is in Chinese, by the way, if you couldn’t guess. Again, it’s okay…but not exactly my cup of tea.
Lucia(심규선) – Moonflower(야래향 夜來香)
Song review aside, I like how it’s basically a story showed through this ink prints (is that correct?). I kinda swayed to say it’s a nice song for that but by itself I could see myself not subscribing to the song as much.
Broccoli you too(브로콜리너마저) – 2020
How do you even come up with that name? Broccoli you too? Huh? Anyway, I don’t really like the song.
Kim Yoon Hee(김윤희) – Snowy day(흰 눈이 내려와)
The vibes of this song is really giving me early ’00s or even late ’90s. The music video which is more of a lyric video is kinda cute but I’m still fairly lukewarm on this song.
DKB(다크비) – Tell Me Tell Me
Yes, choreography videos like this counts but not ones in the practice room. Why? No particular reason, I’m just kinda random like that. Plus, I like watching choreography videos. Anyway, song is average verging on “meh, could be better.”
Resonar(레소나)(레이나X소율X나다) – tantara
I don’t know a thing about stage mixing or MR removed videos (which are kinda stupid anyways), but even my ears can pick up when the singer’s voice sounds different than the usual stuff we’re given. I feel that especially in the chorus. Anyways, the song is…interesting, but not too great either.
DPR IAN – No Blueberries (ft. DPR LIVE, CL)
I thought DPR was one guy but apparently it’s at least 2 of them. Giving the song a 0 cause as a blueberry lover, I feel offended by the song title.
I’m joking, of course, but literally some fans act like that. As for the song, I don’t dislike it actually, but I don’t love it either. It’s alright.
FYI song starts about 1:40 (probably the biggest intro to date)
동경 (donggyoung) – Walking on the moon
Girl is cute. She’s the type that looks like she’d be a great cuddler – I meant that in the least creepy way possible but feel creeped out if you must ? The song is okay though, nothing too special but I don’t think I’d mind putting it on a playlist.
Epitone Project(에피톤 프로젝트) – Sleepless(불면증) (Vocal by YOUNHA(윤하))
Meh.
Lee Eun Sang(이은상) – Starry Night(그때 다시 빛나요 우리)
This seems like an OST but didn’t have OST in the title, soooo just think of it as an OST because the song certainly reflects that quality. Actually, it’s okay and not too shabby. And no, despite the title, doesn’t sound very Christmassy at all.
Fun fact: The singer is a former X1 boy. Nice he managed to find something after that fiasco.
VINXEN(빈첸), OVAN(오반), Im Soo(임수) – JUNG(정) (Prod. By VAN.C)
Interesting sounds going on in the background but doesn’t save the song for me.
JANG HYUNSEUNG(장현승) – I Just Can’t Stop Loving You(차가운 너의 손을 따스히 감싸주고 싶어)
So this guy is apparently formerly of BEAST now known as Highlight. Apparently he had attitude problems. Don’t know anything about that, but I do know that I’m not really feeling this song.
LEE SEUNG GI(이승기) – The Dreamers Dream(소년,길을걷다)
Whisper singing, a feat that apparently only Billie Eilish seems to be good at according to a certain part of the internet. If that didn’t tune you out, he certainly gets louder but doesn’t really add to the ballad so I’ll pass.

As soon as it started with that autotuny robotic that somehow was trying to sound cute “All I want for Christmas is you,” I knew this was gonna be a ride. Um, I think this is definitely a song you shouldn’t take seriously. Most likely just made for fun, so I won’t judge harshly but it certainly is something.
성리 SEONGRI – 당신이 아니었다면 (If it wasn’t you)
I think his name is rather unfortunate, honestly. This is a case of “the face don’t match the voice.” Anyways, it’s alright for a trot-like ballad. I’m not even sure it’s right to label it that, but hopefully you know what I mean.
Eluphant(이루펀트), HANHAE(한해), KANTO(칸토), Yenjamin(옌자민), Rudals(루달스), GREE(그리) – 1 YEAR
I think this was actually okay up until they sing, like I came here for straight up rapping if I listen to stuff like this. Don’t get me your autotuned RnB vocals, thank you. It was a very short portion so all is forgiven.
Wavycake, Ovus – 꿈 Dream (Feat. Def.)
I actually don’t mind this song but I don’t got much else to say.
위은총 – 바라보다 (afternoon)
I was more focused on the food he was preparing than the actual song itself.
sunwoojunga(선우정아) – Island(섬)
Meh.
OST Section
사야 (SAya) – Call Me Maybe [여신강림(True Beauty)]
So the OST section is back this week with two songs from the new hit drama, True Beauty. It’s based on the megapopular webtoon of the same name. I plan to review this drama if I don’t drop it that is. Everyone seems to like it but I’m always the odd one out, so I wanna found out why it’s so freaking popular.
Oh, the song? It’s alright. More on the poppy cheery side than dreary.
여신강림 OST Part 2 유주 (여자친구) – I’m in the mood for Dancing
Second OST is actually from a Gfriend girl, Yuju. I actually don’t mind either OST for this drama. I don’t know if I’d go as far as putting it on a playlist but it’s not bad.
KANG IN SOO(강인수) & LEE SANG(이상) – Wish For You | Wish You OST
More boring than the last two.
DOKO(도코) – Seeing You Again(그대란 사람을 다시 또 만나고) (The Spies Who Loved Me(나를 사랑한 스파이) OST Part.5)
This is also meh.
Well, that’s it folks. I will leave this video here because it’s technically not supposed to go in the list but I still wanted to include it as a Sim lover. I don’t think this is the first time I’ve seen Hwasa in a Sims commercial but I still find it quite funny.
